Iria Grande, MD, Ph.D., works as a specialized medical psychiatrist and researcher in the Bipolar Disorders Program of the Hospital Clínic at the University of Barcelona directed by Prof. Vieta. She investigates microbiota and possible peripheral biomarkers in bipolar disorder and the possible neuroprogression of this disorder by the concept of staging. She is also involved in research projects related to pharmacological treatments, cognition, and functioning in bipolar disorder. Dr. Grande has published over 40 articles in international journals with an h-index of 18 and more than 854 citations, a book, and 5 book chapters and is a reviewer in international journals as well as a speaker in international congresses. In 2011 she received the international Lilly Young Investigator Fellowship in Bipolar Disorder Award from the International Society for Bipolar Disorders and in 2016 the Young Investigator Award of the Spanish Society of Biological Psychiatry. Since 2016 she is the vice-secretary of the Spanish Society of Psychiatry.
