Dr. Itamar Shabtai received his MBA and Ph.D. in Information Systems from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He completed an executive program “Leadership Strategies for Information Technology in Healthcare” at Harvard University. His main academic research interest is in the area of Healthcare Information Technology and medical informatics. The principal domain of his research work is in assessing the strategic value of the adoption and use of IT solutions in the organizational world in general and in the healthcare environment in particular.
His research work focus on economics of information systems & technology in healthcare, where he examines the economics and clinical aspects of the adoption of information technology in the medical process. His research projects based on Big Data concepts and methodologies especially using advanced analytics models and data mining. For the last four years, he leads an innovative project with collaboration with Clalit Health Services (sponsored by the ministry of science, technology and space) focuses on patient engagement technologies such as patient mobile portals.
