Jacob Buchowski is currently the Lawrence G. and Elizabeth A. Lenke Distinguished Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Professor of Neurological Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He is the Chief of the Spine Division in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine. He also serves as the Director of the Washington University Spine Fellowship and Director of the Center for Spinal Tumors. He specialized in complex reconstructive spinal surgery with an emphasis on oncologic and degenerative disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
Jacob Buchowski's clinical interests include tumors of the spine, complex reconstructive surgery, scoliosis, and other deformities, as well as degenerative disorders and tumors of the spine. His research interests include clinical outcomes following spinal reconstructive surgery, spine biomechanics, and basic science applications (such as gene therapy) to disorders of the spine.
Jacob Buchowski earned my bachelor's and master of science degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University and my medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins, where he served as administrative chief resident at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was fellowship-trained in adult and pediatric spine surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine.
