James O’Brien, MD, is the director of sleep medicine at Boston PainCare and works at the practice’s location in Waltham, Massachusetts. He also serves as the medical director at ProHealth Physicians Sleep Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
Dr. O’Brien received his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont and his medical degree from New York Medical College. He went on to complete residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Carney Hospital in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Dr. O’Brien finished up graduate training in sleep medicine at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts.
Specializing in sleep disorders, Dr. O’Brien has been in private practice for nearly 30 years. He has worked as a primary care physician, pulmonologist, and sleep physician. He has lectured to health care professionals in the United States and Germany and appeared on radio and television programs, where he discussed the importance of healthy sleep and treating sleep disorders.
