Jay Fisher, MD, FAAP, serves as the Director of Pediatric Emergency Services at Children's Hospital of Nevada at UMC in Las Vegas, NV. He has worked in the Pediatric ED at UMC since 1992 and has served as Director since January 2007. Dr. Fisher earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Summa Cum Laude, from Stonehill College in North Easton, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he helped establish an international pediatric externship in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. He performed his internship, residency, and fellowship in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine at Boston University/Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center) in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Fisher has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Nevada School of Medicine Pediatric Residency class three times and the Bernard Feldman Distinguished Lectureship Award. He has authored 10 peer-reviewed publications during his tenure at University Medical Center. Most recently, he co-authored an abstract presentation at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Pediatrics on the Utility of EKG in Children with Chest Pain and A Retrospective Study on Mortality Associated with ALTE, published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
