Jeffrey E. Johnson earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed his orthopedic residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He completed his dedicated orthopedic foot and ankle fellowship training at the University of Texas in Houston. Currently, he is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, has served as Chief of Foot and Ankle Service for the past 20 years, and has served as a Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program Director since 1994.

As a long-time member of the AOFAS, he has been program chair and faculty on many scientific programs, served on numerous committees, presented his primary research at AOFAS meetings, and served on the Board of Directors for the last four years. Johnson participated in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Japanese-American Traveling Fellowship Program, and he has been a frequent guest lecturer on foot and ankle orthopedic surgery both nationally and internationally.
