Jeffrey H. Wisoff, was born on January 24, 1953 and is presently the Director of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery and Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics at the New York University Langone Medical Center. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Union College and received his medical degree, with honors, from George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Wisoff completed his Neurosurgery residency at NYU under Joseph Ransohoff, M.D., followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery under Fred Epstein, MD.
Dr. Wisoff was a founding member of the NYU Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery in 1985 and assumed its Directorship in 1996.Dr.Wisoff is the past Co-Chairman of the Neurosurgery Committee and a senior member of the Brain Tumor Strategy Committee of the national Children’s Oncology Group (COG). He is the chair of the COG 9891 Low-grade Astrocytoma Protocol.Dr. Wisoff is the immediate past Chairman of the Joint Section of Pediatric Neurosurgery of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery and the International Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery.
He also serves on the medical advisory board of the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, the Israel Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, and the Hydrocephalus Association.Dr Wisoff has been an invited speaker and visiting professor at Stanford University, Harvard’s Brigham and Children’s Hospital, Mt Sinai, Weill Cornell Medical Center, University of Georgia and numerous international sites, including Israel, Poland, Brazil, Argentina and Japan.
