Dr. Jeffrey Barr joined Ortho NorthEast (ONE) as a member of the PainONE medical team. He is an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist. Before coming to ONE, Dr. Barr was most recently a comprehensive pain physician at Audie L. Murphy VA in San Antonio, Texas.
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Dr. Barr attended Homestead High School. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, he attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He continued his medical education with an internship and anesthesiology residency at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. He also completed a fellowship in pain medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Barr served in the United States Air Force for 11 years and in 2005 he was promoted to the rank of Major. While in the military, he was twice deployed to Iraq. He has received several military honors, including an Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and an Air Force Commendation Medal. He also served as Pain Medicine Consultant to the Surgeon General of the United States Air Force.
Dr. Barr is a frequent presenter at medical conferences, most often on the topics of pain management and spinal cord stimulation. Dr. Barr is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology as well as a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the International Spine Intervention Society. He has held teaching positions in anesthesiology and pain medicine at Wilford Medical Center in San Antonio, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.
