Dr. Jennifer Kate Cooney is a Lecturer in Health and Exercise Physiology at the School of Human and Behavioural Sciences and a Women's Health Coach. After completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Bangor University in 2013, she completed her post-doctoral studies working as a Research Officer on the national UK PEDAL Trial (PrEscription of intra-Dialytic exercise to improve quality of Life in patients with chronic kidney disease) in collaboration with Kings College Hospital, London.

As a Health Physiologist and certified Health Coach, Jen is interested in understanding how much our daily habits impact our overall health and well-being, both in the short and long term. Jen is passionate about the role lifestyle medicine plays in disease prevention and the impact simple lifestyle changes can have in improving quality of life and health outcomes in the general population and people living with various health challenges. Her research to date focuses on investigating the beneficial effects of physical activity in older adults and people living with additional health challenges including arthritis, cancer, chronic kidney disease, obesity, and diabetes.
