The director of Tri-State Neurosurgery and its specialty clinics is Dr. J.A. Wilden, who graduated Summa Cum Laude in Physics and Biology at Washington University in St. Louis in 2001 and attended medical school at the prestigious Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Wilden completed neurosurgery residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis and won several awards for both teaching and research. Dr. Wilden is fellowship trained in movement disorders and epilepsy, having completed formal training with the Surgical Movement Disorders Center at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) under Dr. Philip Starr, Dr. Paul Larson, Dr. Edward Chang, and Dr. Jill Ostrem. Dr. Wilden is a member of the American Society of Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery and the Movement Disorder Society, has authored multiple publications, and specializes in the use of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and essential tremor, as well as in the surgical treatment of seizures/epilepsy, spasticity, brain tumors, brain malformations, hydrocephalus, and spinal diseases including stenosis, neck/back pain, herniated disk, and nerve pain in the arms/legs.
