Dr. Hernandez Montelongo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in the Faculty of Engineering. He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics and the Core of Bioproducts and Advanced Materials (BioMA). He is also a Visiting Professor of the Doctorate in Sciences with a mention in Applied Cellular and Molecular Biology, taught by the University of La Frontera.

Professor Jacobo is a Chemical Engineer from the University of Guadalajara (Mexico), and a Doctor in Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). He completed his postdoctorate at the State University of Campinas (Brazil) and has done scientific stays in the research centers: Materials and Transformations Unit of the University of Lille-1 (France), Institute of Health and Consumer Protection of the Common Center of Research from the European Union (Italy), European Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (France), among others.

Hernandez is an expert in the areas of biophysics and biomaterials: he studies the interface between materials and biological systems, as well as the development of new devices with biomedical applications. His experience is multidisciplinary: the border between physics, chemistry, and biology is evident in his scientific production. He is a reviewer in more than 20 specialized magazines.
