"As of February 2022, these highly cited manuscripts received enough citations to place them in the top 1% of the academic field of clinical medicine based on a highly cited threshold for the field and publication year, contributing to Mayo Clinic Proceedings' 2021 Impact Factor," says Karl A. Nath, MB, ChB, Editor-in-Chief of the journal. This data was released in June 2022.
Dr. Xie and his co-authors were recognized for their article, “Association Between Hypoxemia and Mortality in Patients With COVID-19,” published in the June 2020 (Volume 95, Issue 6) issue of the journal.
“In this cohort of patients with COVID-19, hypoxemia was independently associated with in-hospital mortality,” says Dr. Xie. “These results may help guide the clinical management of patients with severe COVID-19, particularly in settings requiring strategic allocation of limited critical care resources.”
Dr. Xie serves as the director of the Centre for Sleep Medicine and vice director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Medicine at Beijing Anzhen Hospital (Beijing, China). Following his medical education, he obtained his doctorate degree from Capital Medical University in Beijing and completed his post-doctoral training at Mayo Clinic.
