Johanna Uusimaa MD, PhD

Dr. Johanna Uusimaa, MD, Ph.D. is a Professor of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Oulu. Dr. Johanna Uusimaa started her Ph.D. thesis work in 1988 as a second-year medical student in the Bioenergetics Group led by prof Ilmo Hassinen and Prof Kalervo Hiltunen at the Department of Medical Biochemistry, University of Oulu. She defended the thesis on “Metabolism of D3-double bonds of unsaturated fatty acids in mammals. Rat and human isoforms of D3, D2-enoyl-CoA isomerase“ in 1994 (supervised by prof Hiltunen). Dr. Uusimaa specialized in Pediatrics in 2000 and Pediatric Neurology in 2003 at the Department of Pediatrics, Oulu University Hospital and University of Oulu.
