John A. Snowden BSc (Hons), MBChB, MD, FRCP, FRCPath

Professor John Snowden graduated from the University of Leeds in 1989 and trained in Internal Medicine and Haematology in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia. In 2002, he was appointed as Consultant Haematologist & Director of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) in the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and subsequently worked as Lead Clinician in Haemato-oncology for the Trust (2002-07) and Cancer Network (2007-10).

His principal focus is the day-to-day provision and strategic development of tertiary level hematological cancer and BMT services (autologous, allogeneic, haploidentical and cord blood) for Sheffield and South Yorkshire Region (covering a population of approximately 2 million). In 2012, Sheffield became the first Anthony Nolan collection center outside London, thereby forming an important component of the Aligned UK Bone Marrow donor registry.
