Îœr John Benson qualified from Oxford University Clinical School in 1984 and was awarded a Doctorate from the University in 1997 (DM). He received specialist training in Breast Diseases at The Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research, London.
Further experience was gained in breast reconstructive techniques as Visiting Professor at the New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Centre in 1997 in the USA. He was elected to a Fellowship at Selwyn College in the University of Cambridge in 2007. Mr Benson is Director of Clinical Studies at Selwyn College and a member of the Panel of Examiners, Intercollegiate MRCS Examination (Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh). He was appointed a Regional Breast Tutor (Eastern Region) by The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007 and Professor of Applied Surgical Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University in 2010. He is a member of the Education and Training Committee of the Association of Breast Surgeons. He was a member of the faculty of the San Antonio Breast Board Symposium in 2011 (panelist) and 2012 (discussant).
He has published widely in the field of breast diseases with articles in leading journals including The Lancet, The Lancet Oncology, British Journal of Cancer and Annals of Surgery
