John Ross, MD is internationally renown for developing outpatient surgical procedures and techniques which provide access to the bloodstream for patients on dialysis. He is the lead surgeon and Medical Director at the Dialysis Access Institute at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC. Dr. Ross’ program is one of 18 in the U.S that has been certified by the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrologists. He completed his medical training at the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine and has been a board-certified surgeon for 30 years. Dr. Ross was a founding member and the first Vice President of the Vascular Access Society of the Americas.
He serves on the editorial boards of The Journal of Vascular Access as well as Endovascular Today. Dr. Ross’ professional interests include vascular access for hemodialysis patients and the implementation of a standard, comprehensive access care program encompassing patient, physician and ancillary staff education. Dr. Ross’ writings on hemodialysis access have been published extensively and he has presented at national and regional conferences including the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology, the American College of Surgeons and the VEITHsymposium. His extensive research focuses on improving the scope of hemodialysis access management.
