Jordan E. Axelrad, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, at New York University School of Medicine, and a gastroenterologist at the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at NYU Langone Health. Dr. Axelrad is also a faculty member in the Vaccine Center in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at NYU Langone Health and a member of the executive council in the New York Crohn's and Colitis Organization.

Dr. Axelrad received his medical and public health degrees from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and went on to complete fellowship training in gastroenterology at Columbia University Medical Center, serving as chief fellow. Dr. Axelrad received specialized training in translational IBD investigation and his research in areas such as environmental factors in IBD, and in malignant and infectious complications of IBD, has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and presented internationally. His current research interests include pathogenic triggers of IBD onset and flare and ex vivo models for predicting responsiveness to IBD therapies.
