Dr. Jorina Elbers is a board-certified neurologist who completed her undergraduate degree in kinesiology, medical training in pediatric neurology, and fellowship in pediatric stroke. She is also trained in HeartMath, EMDR, and Brainspotting with adults and children. She holds a Master's degree in Epidemiology from Stanford University. She worked as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Stanford’s Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital for 6 years. As a clinical researcher, she studied nervous system dysregulation (the impact of chronic stress and trauma on the nervous system) and has published over 25 research papers and book chapters.
In 2018, Dr. Elbers left Stanford and began working as the Director of the Trauma Recovery Program at the HeartMath Institute. There, she created an online program that teaches emotional awareness and self-regulation skills for parents and children, and developed a HeartMath Certification course to educate health practitioners about trauma-sensitive, heart-focused patient care.
Dr. Elbers opened this practice in January 2024 so she could serve her community, and help to treat the rapid rise in stress-related conditions that affect both adults and children. She has been married for 14 years, and lives with her husband and children in Santa Cruz, California.
