Dr. Jose Donato A. Magno is an energetic internist-cardiologist-echocardiographer and is the Junior Course Director of the 9th IM PSBIM Annual Review. Dr. Jose Donato Magno, Donny as he is fondly called by his colleagues and trainees, is a BS Biology graduate from UP Diliman. He finished his Doctor of Medicine degree at the UP College of Medicine in 2004, an Internal Medicine residency, and a Cardiology fellowship both in the Philippine General Hospital where he also served as the Chief Fellow. He pursued further training in Cardiology-Echocardiography at the Philippine Heart Center in 2013. He is a fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians, the Philippine College of Cardiology, and the Philippine Heart Association. Dr. Magno is the Director of the Philippine Society of Echocardiography since September 2014.

Dr. Magno is a passionate teacher and lecturer. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at the UP College of Medicine and an Associate Professor at the Philippine Women’s University. He is the Training Officer of the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center Section of Cardiology and is an active member of the Training Committee of the UP PGH Section of Cardiology.

Dr. Magno has won several awards for the institutions that he represents, both in the field of research and quiz contests. He has completed more than 50 research outputs, over 30 research presentations, and 18 publications. Dr. Magno is a founding member of the Philippine Cardiovascular Genomics Study Group, a peer reviewer in Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging, and in the International Journal of Cardiology. Among his many distinctions, Dr. Magno is a devoted family man. He is a musician at heart, a health enthusiast, and quality and patient safety advocate.
