Jose L Zamorano is a Professor of Medicine at the University Alcala de Henares, Madrid, and the Chief of Cardiology at the University Hospital Ramon y Cajal.
Prof Zamorano has a broad range of research interests including heart failure, ischaemic heart disease, cardiovascular risk factors, and cardiovascular imaging modalities. Within these fields, Prof Zamorano is widely published with over 500 articles and twenty books including the European Textbook of Cardiovascular Imaging.
Prof Zamorano has been actively participating in International Scientific Societies. Has served as Vicepresident of the European Society of Cardiology. He served as Secretary of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), President of the European Association of Echocardiography (EAE), International Advisor of the American College of Cardiology’s International Committee, Director of the scientific program in imaging for the ESC Congress, and Chair of the Practice Guidelines Committee and Global Affairs of the ESC.
Over the past 20 years, Prof Zamorano has received a number of prestigious Spanish and International awards, such as the Golden Plaque of the Public Health Authorities of Madrid and the Inge Edler Gold Medal, the silver medal of the European Society of Cardiology, Honorary member of the American Society of Echocardiography and Research Award of the Spanish Society of Cardiology.
