Jose Jesus Diaz, Jr MD

Jose J Diaz, MD is Professor of Surgery, Vice Chair Quality and Safety, Department of Surgery, Chief of Acute Care Surgery and Program Director of the Acute Care Surgery Fellowship at the University of Maryland/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Diaz graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston TX. He completed his general surgery residency at Huron - Cleveland Clinic Foundation Health Systems in Cleveland Ohio. He subsequently completed his Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee. Dr. Diaz started his academic career at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he became the Director of the Emergency General Surgery Service. He rose to the rank of Associate Professor. In 2011 Dr. Diaz was recruited to the University of Maryland/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center to be the Chief of Acute Care Surgery.
