Dr. Joseph Cantey is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UT Health San Antonio. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and received his MD at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
After medical school, he completed my pediatrics residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Then, he completed two fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, and became the first formally dual-boarded pediatrician in pediatric infectious diseases and neonatal-perinatal medicine.
He is heavily involved in clinical research and published more than 60 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He authored two textbooks on neonatal infections and was a chapter author for the Red Book. He also serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics editorial board for Nelson’s Pediatric Antimicrobial Therapy textbook.
