Juan Pablo Horcajada Gallego, MD, Ph.D. is Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Coordinator of the Infection Control Program, and President of the Infection Control Committee at Hospital del Mar, Parc de Salut MAR, in Barcelona, Spain. He is the Coordinator of the Infectious Pathology and Antimicrobials Research group (IPAR) at the Hospital Del Mar Research Institute (IMIM) in Barcelona. His interests are nosocomial infection prevention, surveillance and control, and antimicrobial therapy, especially for multidrug-resistant bacteria. He has worked extensively in the area of multidrug-resistant microorganisms, nosocomial infectious outbreaks, urinary tract infections, antibiotic stewardship, and pharmacokinetics of antimicrobial drugs. He has published extensively on nosocomial and community-acquired infections. He is the principal investigator on numerous clinical studies and several competitive granted projects and has been involved in the study of many novel agents including ceftaroline, telavancin, rezafungin, ceftolozane, avibactam, varbobactam, cefiderocol. He has consulted for companies such as MSD, Novartis, Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Astellas, Zambon, Basilea, Menarini, and Angelini. He is a Professor of Medicine at Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona
