Dr. Julio Acero Sanz has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Madrid (1974-1980) and a specialist in Stomatology from the Complutense University of Madrid (1982). He carried out his specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (MIR) at the Ramon y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid between 1980 and 1985. He obtained the title of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery with mention Cum Laude from the Autonomous University of Madrid in 1992, and in 2007 he was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Iasi (Romania). Dr. Acero is also a Fellow of the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow Ad eundem Royal College of Surgeons of England.

When his residency period ended, Dr. Acero became part of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital in Madrid, where he was Head of Section until December 2012 when he was appointed Head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service. In addition, Dr. Acero is the director of the IMA and the Head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Quirón Madrid University Hospital.

Dr. Acero has always combined his healthcare work with his teaching work, being until December 2012 Associate Professor of Surgery at the Complutense University of Madrid, and is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Alcalá de Henares and Associate Professor of Medicine at the European University of Madrid.
