Dr. Kaj Blennow currently works as a Professor and chief physician in the Neurochemistry Laboratory, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Gothenburg University, Molndal, Sweden. The major interests include studies on cerebrospinal fluid biochemical markers for clinical diagnosis of AD and therapy monitoring in AD. He has about 500 original research papers in peer-reviewed journals. Kaj Blennow took his medical degree (MD) in 1984 at Lund University and became a registered physician in 1986. He received specialist competence in general psychiatry in 1993 and in clinical chemistry in 1994.
Blennow is a senior consultant and Head of the Clinical Neurochemistry Lab at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden. He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Science at Göteborg University in 1990 and became Associate Professor (Docent) in 1994. During 1997-2002, he had a position as a Researcher at the Medical Research Council (MRC), Sweden. Since 2003, he has been Professor in Clinical Neurochemistry and Head of the research team on “Neurochemical Pathogenesis and Diagnostics” at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
