Kathryn Alfonso, DO is an assistant professor at the UF Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She earned her medical degree from the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington. Following medical school, she completed her residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and her fellowship training in primary care sports medicine at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina. She is also a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Wilderness Medical Society.

She specializes in treating endurance, performing arts, and adaptive sports athletes using ultrasound diagnostics and procedures. She sees patients for various conditions including acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, tendonitis, bursitis, stress fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, peripheral nerve entrapment and compression, and sports concussions
