Kathy Bettinardi- Angres, is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, a Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse, a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Licensed Registered Professional Nurse. She is currently the Director of Multidisciplinary Assessments/Family Therapist and the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for Positive Sobriety Institute in Chicago, Illinois.
As the Director of Multidisciplinary Assessments/Family Services at Positive Sobriety Institute, Kathy’s responsibilities include communication, education, and family therapy of patients. Simultaneously, as the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Kathy performs multidisciplinary assessments for healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and dentists. Kathy works with employers to perform Fitness for Duty Assessments to determine if an employee is or is not able to perform essential job functions because of psychological or psychiatric conditions. Kathy’s expert assessments have helped many individuals seek recovery from addictive behaviors and have provided the necessary information to State Boards and employers.
When Kathy is not providing health assessments and performing her duties at Positive Sobriety Institute, she can be found at Rush University Medical Center where she is Adjunct faculty for the Department of Nursing. Kathy lectures and mentors students who are in the nursing program.
Prior to Positive Sobriety Institute, Kathy was the Director of the Family Services Professional’s Program at Resurrection Behavioral Health where she was responsible for communication, education, and assessment of family members of professionals. Kathy led services such as family therapy, and couples therapy, and was the family representative for team consultations at Presence Behavioral Health, Program for Professionals.
Kathy is a board-certified Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her psychiatric nursing degree from Rush College of Nursing Chicago, Illinois, and her nursing degree from Loyola University Chicago.
Kathy has authored several publications for the Journal of Nursing Regulation, Maryland Medical Journal, and The Nurse Practitioner Journal.
She is currently serving as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Nursing Regulation.
