Dr. Gatwood is a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist in Adult Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy. She received both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. She then went on to complete both her PGY1 Pharmacy and PGY2 Oncology residencies at the University of North Carolina Health Care in Chapel Hill, NC. In 2015, after completion of her post-graduate training, Dr. Gatwood began practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist in Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Clinical pharmacists at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. After 1.5 years in this role, she transitioned to her current position to assist in the expansion of clinical pharmacy services to the outpatient setting.

Outside of her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Gatwood serves as the residency research lead for the PGY2 Oncology Residency program and as the pharmacist lead for the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy & Therapeutics Subcommittee. She also is a lecturer for the Breast and Ovarian Cancer oncology module of the Therapeutics V course at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. Dr. Gatwood has been an active member of both the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association and American Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation since entering residency training and currently serves on committees in both organizations. She is the current past chair of the Communications Working Committee of the ASBMT Pharmacy Special Interest Group and is a member of the HOPA BCOP Program Planning Committee.

Dr. Gatwood is currently investigating the management of therapeutic anticoagulation in the peri-transplant period and the prevention of viral reactivation post-transplant. She has authored numerous publications addressing post-transplant corticosteroid effects, transplant conditioning regimens, and the impact of oncology pharmacists in ambulatory practice. She has spoken at regional and national conferences on topics ranging from graft-versus-host disease therapies, venous-occlusive disease management, post-transplant maintenance therapy, and the use of biosimilars in oncology practice.
