He is the Medical Director and Chief of the Mehta Charity Eye Hospital, Karja. Head of Eye Dept, Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. Appointed Professor of Ophthalmology at D Y Patil Medical College, Mumbai. Specializing in Intraocular Implants, Glaucoma, Phacoemulsification and Refractive Laser surgery. Prof. Dr. Keiki R. Mehta completed his Masters in Ophthalmology in 1971. He did his Diploma in Ophthalmology at the famed Moorfields Eye Hospital in London UK and the Diploma from Dublin Ireland. He has pioneered, in India, the commencement of Intraocular Implants, LASIK and Phacoemulsification Cataract surgery in 1997 for which he is known as the Father of Indian Phacoemulsification. Pioneered the Glaucoma Shunt surgery in 2004. He has pioneered the "Mehta Glaucoma Valve" in 2008 which has now become one of the most popular valves used internationally.
