Dr. Kershaw Patel earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Chicago. Dr. Patel then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. In addition, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in the National Institute of Health T32 Cardiovascular Training Program during his time at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Upon completion of the fellowship, Dr. Patel started his clinical and academic career at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center. Dr. Patel’s research interests include the prevention of cardiovascular disease using novel screening strategies. He has been particularly focused on heart failure prevention among individuals with diabetes, obesity, and other cardiometabolic risk factors.
