Dr. CHAN Kwok-Ying graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1997 and obtained his palliative medicine fellowship in 2011. He is the subject officer for non-cancer palliative care in HKWC and, also the subject officer for end-of-life care of hospital accreditation in both Grantham and Queen Mary Hospitals. Currently, he is the co-chairman for the coordination of the palliative care committee in HKWC.

He has been awarded the best thesis with a gold medal by the dissertation by Hong Kong College of Physicians in 2009. His field of interest includes both early integrated and renal palliative care. He has published more than 20 research studies in some renowned journals including the American Journal of Kidney Disease.

Dr. Chan is both an international reviewer and editor. He is the abstract reviewer for the world nephrology congress in Mexico in 2017. He is the guest editor for leading neuro-palliative care issue in Annals of Palliative medicine Journal in 2017. He regularly teaches palliative courses at PRCC and HK Space and has public talks in the community for promoting advanced care planning and respecting end of life care. He has been invited as a speaker to give a talk on ‘Integrated Palliative Care for Advanced Medical Diseases’ at the 23rd Hong Kong Medical Forum.

In hospital authority, Dr. Chan has been awarded twice as the team leader for outstanding team wards in 2013 and 2017. He has both oral and poster presentations for the renal palliative care project at the HA convention. He is now a palliative care consultant working in Grantham Hospital.
