Laura Hancock is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (Wythenshawe). He graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine, London and surgical training was undertaken in London, Oxford and the Northwest. This was followed by the ALS/RCS Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship in Leeds in 2015.

His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, proctology and laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He is the surgical lead for inflammatory bowel disease in the Trust. His research interests include clinical and scientific research in a wide range of colorectal disorders. I was a Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellow in Oxford in 2004 and examined the clinical and genetic characteristics of Crohn’s disease. He was awarded the Pathological Society Surgical Travelling Fellowship to Toronto in 2006. He is the Principal Investigator for the NIHR IBD BioResource, Patient Preferences in Perianal Crohn's disease Study and National Audit on Small Bowel Obstruction (NASBO). He is a collaborator for the ACPGBIs ENiGMA study in perianal Crohn's disease.
