Dr. Galatz is the Mount Sinai Professor and Chair of the Leni and Peter May Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York. She specializes in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. She previously served as the Fellowship Director for the Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship as well as Chief of the Shoulder and Elbow Service at Washington University.
Her primary research interest throughout her career has been the basic science of rotator cuff disease and tendon healing as it pertains to cuff repair. She is a Co-Primary Investigator on two major projects funded by the National Institute of Health which focus on rotator cuff degeneration and repair, and tissue engineering strategies for tendon repair. Her research is complemented with clinical projects with her colleagues on Shoulder and Elbow problems.
