Dr. Shetty graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India in 1984. He completed his Radiology residency training in the United Kingdom and post-doctoral fellowship training in MRI and body imaging at the University of Chicago and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Shetty is Board-certified in Radiology and holds additional Radiology Board Certification equivalent degrees in the United Kingdom and India. He has been in Medical Practice since 1995. His area of clinical expertise is Breast cancer Screening and Imaging, Gynecological Imaging, MRI, and High-risk Obstetric Sonography.
Dr. Shetty has authored several publications in Women's imaging and Mammography and has served as the guest Editor of two issues of the Seminars in Ultrasound, CT, and MRI focusing on Radiation Safety issues in Computed Tomographic use in Medicine and Breast Cancer Screening and Imaging. He was formerly the Director of Mammography at Ben-Taub General Hospital and Academic Chief, of a section of GU radiology, at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Shetty is a Past President of the Houston Radiological Society and the South East Texas Chapter of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. In the past, he has served as the Program Director of CME Conferences on Ultrasound, Mammography, and Women's Health in the USA and in India. He has been an invited speaker at National and International Medical Conferences. He serves on the Advisory Board of International experts in the Women's Imaging Online community of the American Roentgen Ray Society. The American Board of Radiology has named him an Examiner for the Board Certification examinations. He was elected as a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging in 2008 and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 2010.
Dr. Shetty in his capacity as an International Volunteer Visiting Professor has delivered lectures and conducted workshops in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America on topics in Breast and Women's Imaging. Dr. Shetty has served as the Co-director of a Charity Medical clinic in Southwest Houston responsible for the Well Woman Clinic section of the nonprofit entity from 2009 to 2011.
