Dr. Marcus Wiemer director of the clinic for cardiology and internal intensive care medicine at the University Hospital Minden. Dr. Marcus Wiemer has been appointed professor by the Ruhr University Bochum. The extraordinary professorship has Dr. Marcus Wiemer for his commitment to the training and further education of young doctors and for his efforts to implement the latest scientific findings in therapeutic practice.
professor dr Marcus Wiemer has introduced and established numerous new forms of therapy at the Minden University Hospital in recent years. This includes, among other things, the introduction of catheter interventions on the mitral and aortic valves and transcatheter aortic valve implantation, which he regularly carries out in cooperation with the Heart and Diabetes Center (HDZ NRW). He also successfully established rotablation and lithotripsy of the coronary vessels in Minden. With these procedures, major heart operations can be replaced by small, low-risk interventions in the heart cath laboratory. Patients can usually leave the hospital the next day.
For the managing director of Johannes Wesling Klinikum Mario Bahmann, the appointment of Dr. Wiemer as the professor is a good signal. "Professor Wiemer is an outstanding cardiologist who drives scientific and medical progress and always implements it immediately for the benefit of the patients. Our patients benefit from ever smaller cardiological interventions,” says Mario Bahmann.
