Board-certified surgical oncologist Margo Shoup, MD, MBA, FACS, is president of the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. In addition to her leadership role, Dr. Shoup also cares for patients. She specializes in surgical care for gastrointestinal cancers, as well as soft tissue and retroperitoneal sarcoma. With her extensive training and experience, Dr. Shoup treats patients with gastrointestinal cancers, where tumors develop in the digestive tract, such as colorectal, liver, pancreatic, and stomach.

Dr. Shoup earned her medical degree from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. She then completed her residency in general surgery and a research fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, and a fellowship in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She later earned an MBA from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

Currently, Dr. Shoup is treasurer of the Western Surgical Association and community surgeon representative on the executive council for the Society of Surgical Oncology. Previously, she served as president of the Midwest Surgical Association, Chicago Surgical Society, and Central Surgical Association. Other memberships include the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA), Society of University Surgeons, and Southern Surgical Association.

She has been the principal investigator on several nationally funded and investigator-initiated research trials and has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and presentations. She was a director with the American Board of Surgery and continues to be an oral board examiner for general and surgical oncology.
