Maria Del Mar Gil Mira

Dr. Maria Del Mar Gil Mira is a doctor in Obstetrics in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service of the Torrejón University Hospital. After graduating at the top of her class, she spent three years at the Harris Birthright Research Center at King's College, London, where she completed her thesis. This research has been key to the development of the circulating DNA test in maternal blood for the screening of fetal chromosomal abnormalities. After her return to Spain, in 2015, she promoted the formation of a research unit in obstetrics and gynecology at the University Hospital of Torrejón. She is co-founder of the iMaterna Foundation, for research and development in fetal, maternal, and neonatal medicine. She currently directs several lines of research in the prevention of pregnancy complications.
