Dr. Marius Nedelcu's interest in bariatric surgery goes back to his last year of university (2006) when he spent a month in Strasbourg to attend his first course in the bariatric course. After a short stay in the US (2008), where he passed all my exams (ECFMG certificate), he decided for family reasons to come back to France. He expanded his experience in bariatrics under the mentorship of Professor David Nocca (2010 – 2012) and Doctor Patrick Noel (2013). They gave him the opportunity to perform his first bariatric procedures as a resident, and they also encouraged his scientific work, with Professor Michel Gagner (world premiere of the sleeve). In 2020, he have more than 80 articles published on bariatric surgery with more than half related to sleeve gastrectomy. Consequently, he became a reviewer for SOARD (see certificate) – the official journal of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and in June 2016, he received the “Certificate of exceptional contribution”.
In 2013, he became “Head of the Clinic” at the University of Strasbourg and since 2017, he has moved into private practice in the South of France to the “Centre Chirurgical de l’Obesite” in Toulon. Since 2019, with the help of ELSAN, he start also to work in Marseille, at the Bouchard Clinic, with his good friend Dr. Thierry Manos.
