Martin Hellman is a Pittsburgh native and a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1976. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia and participated in an Emergency Medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. He has been active in both Pediatric Emergency Medicine and General Emergency Medicine since 1984. He has won seven teaching awards during that span. He has been honored with five teaching awards during that time and was the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Speaker of the Year 2000-2001. He was chairman of the Ohio ACEP emergency medicine review course in 1990 and has served as faculty of the Ohio EMR since its inception. He is currently on the advisory board of EMS Magazine. He served as national faculty in Ohio for the Pediatric Advanced Life Support course from 1988 to 1991. He has authored several critical decisions for ACEP and wrote a chapter on physical examinations of children at different ages for a pediatric emergency medicine textbook.
