Massimo Mariani MD, PhD, FECTS

Prof. dr. Massimo Mariani is the Head of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at the University Medical Center Groningen, Netherlands. He is expertise in general adult cardiac surgery. He has a specific interest in minimally invasive techniques, valve-sparing surgery, complex aortic surgery, rhythm surgery, and thoracic transplantations (heart, lung, and heart-lung). The main research field is the development of new surgical tools, in collaboration with TU Twente and mechatronic companies, and a pre-habilitation program for cardiac surgery. He is the founder of the pre-habilitation program in Beatrixoord and PI of the related Heart-ROCQ study.
