Matthew Cooke, DDS, MD, MPH, (Dr. Matt) joined the Departments of Dental Anesthesiology & Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in April of 2011. He received his dental and medical degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Cooke completed residencies in pediatric dentistry and anesthesiology. He, also, completed a master’s degree in public health.
Dr. Cooke is actively involved in advancing the profession. In addition to patient care and scholarly research, Dr. Cooke oversees the local anesthesia curriculum at the School of Dental Medicine and serves as the director of the Healthy Athletes Program for Special Olympics of Virginia and Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a part leader for The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry’s Qualifying Exam and an expert consultant on the Council of Clinical Affairs of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Cooke’s overall goal is to improve access to care and to be an advocate for sedation and anesthesia in pediatric dentistry.
