Dr. Megan Moriarty Kelsey graduated from the University of Notre Dame and went on to the University of Pittsburgh, where she obtained a master’s degree in human genetics. She did her medical training at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, and residency in pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson/A.I. DuPont Hospital. She completed her pediatric endocrinology fellowship at the University of Colorado, where she is currently a tenured Professor of Pediatrics.

Dr. Kelsey serves as the Medical Director of the Lifestyle Medicine multidisciplinary weight management program and of the Bariatric Surgery Center at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Her research broadly focuses on improving the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes in youth. She was a co-investigator for the Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY) Study, which is the largest treatment trial for youth-onset type 2 diabetes to date. She is currently a co-principal Investigator for the new US National Institutes of Health multicenter DISCOVERY study to learn more about the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes in youth.
