Micah Lissy's sports and team experiences were formative. The lessons and relationships forged on the field of play inspired him to stay connected to sports throughout his life. In addition to participating as a player, Dr. Lissy has coached several teams, even touring Europe as the head coach of The Israeli National Women’s Rugby Team. He also worked as a strength coach, training athletes to improve their sports performance. As a medical professional he started working with teams as an Athletic Trainer. This quickly expanded to a role as a Physical Therapist in a sport specific clinic. When Dr. Lissy applied for medical school it was with the intention to become an Orthopedic Sports Surgeon so that he could continue to work with the athletic population. After residency, Dr. Lissy chose a fellowship with a lot of sports coverage, where he was exposed to professional athletes and their care. He draws on all of these experiences when providing patient care and lecturing.
