Dr. Choi is currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Clinical Director of Nephrology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, having been the Nephrology Fellowship Program Director from 1996-2009. He did his undergraduate studies at Yale University. He received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and did his internal medicine residency training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was a nephrology fellow at the University of Pennsylvania.

He is the National Kidney Foundation- Kidney Disease Outcome Quality Initiative Vice- Chair of Education. He has served on the NKF Clinical Meeting Planning Committee in 2007, 2008, and 2010. He is the Chair of the 2011 NKF Spring Clinical Meeting. He has co-chaired the American Society of Nephrology Renal Weekend in Washington DC for 3 years and is section leader/speaker for ASN Renal Weekends in Clinical Nephrology. He is the Deputy Editor for Advances in Chronic Kidney Diseases. He is an Associate Editor of NephSAP and will co-author of the upcoming Chronic Kidney Disease issue. He is Co-editor of the Oxford Nephrology and Hypertension handbook. He has served as Co-chair of the Mid- Atlantic Young Investigator''s Nephrology Forum. He is an editor for CJASN and Clinical Nephrology. His clinical and research interests include glomerular disease, chronic kidney disease, medical education, and nephrolithiasis.
