Dr. Michaella Goldstein, MD is a specialist in ophthalmology and retinal diseases. She is the deputy director of the department of Ophthalmology and head of the Retina clinic as well as the director of the Eye Research Unit (ERU) at the Tel Aviv Medical Center in Israel. Dr. Goldstein graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed their residency in ophthalmology at the department of Ophthalmology, Tel Aviv Medical Center. After a fellowship in Retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and upon her return to Israel in 1999 she assumed a leading position in Israel as a Retina Specialist and expert in the laser-aided treatment of retinal diseases.
In parallel to her clinical commitments and expertise, Dr. Goldstein is well-known for her research with a special focus on neovascular age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and new treatments for retinal vascular diseases, among others. Since her appointment as the director of the ERU, a sound base for conducting single and multicenter studies has been set that includes core multidisciplinary teams that work also in collaboration with other departments at the Tel Aviv Medical Center and Tel Aviv University, or other Israeli universities, as well as with the industry, in the form of joint studies and new developments.
