Miguel R. Abboud earned his medical degree and completed his residency in the Department of Pediatrics, both at the American University of Beirut. He was a Fellow in Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York Hospital, Cornell University Medical Center, 1984-1987, followed by an appointment as Chief Fellow there 1987-1988. He moved to at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1989 and became a Professor of Pediatrics in 2001. At MUSC, Dr. Abboud’s research focused on sickle cell disease and numerous studies. He was an original member of the steering committees for STOP I/II trials.
