Dr. Miguel Xavier Escalón came to The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2013 and has served as Director of Critical Care Rehabilitation since 2014 and as the Residency Program Director for the PM&R residency since 2017. He is an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Chicago and his medical degree from University of Illinois. He received specialty training in Rehabilitation Medicine at The Baylor/UT-Houston PM&R Alliance. Dr. Escalon is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine and Brain Injury Medicine.
Dr. Escalon also focuses on neuro-rehabilitation of any disease that affects the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). He is an expert in spasticity management, including intrathecal pump management and botox injections.
