Miriam S. Bettencourt MD

Dr. Bettencourt is a board-certified fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). She is a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Nevada and an adjunct professor at Touro University, where she contributes to the dermatology training of medical students in Las Vegas.

She started her medical career in Brazil, where she did a residency in internal medicine and dermatology at the University of Sao Paulo. She then moved to the U.S. and completed a residency in family medicine followed by dermatology at Duke University, which is the first international physician ever accepted to the Duke dermatology program. Dr. Bettencourt was also awarded as Chief Resident of Dermatology at Duke.

Subsequently, she accepted a position at the University of South Florida in Tampa, serving as an associate residency program director, head of the clinical trials division and chief of dermatology and dermatologic surgery at the Bay Pines VA Hospital, St Petersburg, Florida.
