Misty L. Gonzalez, PharmD, BCPP is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy. Dr. Gonzalez practices psychiatric clinical pharmacy and participates in interdisciplinary teaching rounds partnered with Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University Saint Louis School of Medicine. Dr. Gonzalez joined SIUE from the New York State Office of Mental Health and the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York where she completed residencies in pharmacy practice and psychiatry. Dr. Gonzalez is a graduate of Purdue University College of Pharmacy.
Areas of interest include treatment of severe and persistent mental illness and comorbid medical conditions, substance use disorders, drug-induced psychosis, and adjunctive pharmacotherapy for the prevention and management of psychiatric crisis situations. Dr. Gonzalez aims to communicate the fundamentals of psychopharmacology while serving as a role model for an empathetic approach in participating in the care of individuals challenged with mental illness.
