Mohamed Janabi has received his medical training from premier institutes in Europe, Australia, Japan, and USA. MD from Kharkiv Medical Institute, Ukraine, Residence (master’s degree) under the supervision of Prof Ian Riley at the University of Queensland Herston Medical School campus Brisbane, Australia. Received his PhD (cardiology) and post-doctorate (recipient of Japan Society for Promotion of Science) from Graduate School Osaka University Hospital, Department of Internal Medicine and Molecular Science, under supervision of Prof Yuji Matsuzawa (co-founder of Syndrome X).

In addition to clinical cardiology training in these institutions, Dr. Janabi has been attached as a senior clinician at Fazarkeley Hospital Liverpool (under Prof Nicholas Beeching), Bergen University Norway (under Jan Erik), and medical University of South Carolina USA (Prof Eric Powers and Peter Zwerner) when he still retains his faculty position at the department of cardiology MUSC.

Furthermore, has a keen interest in academics (Honorary Lecturer with Muhimbili University of Health Allied Sciences-MUHAS) and research. He has a number of publications in various national and international journals. He has been a mentor for students undergoing training in Cardiology (MSc) and residents of Internal Medicine at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute and MUHAS. Has been invited as faculty in various national and international meetings.

Dr. Janabi is the Executive Director of the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), Dar es Salaam Head, and Physician to former President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Dr. Janabi has a rich training history of truly global proportions. Dr. Janabi is a graduate of the Kharkiv Medical Institute (Russia), Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (England), University of Queensland Medical School (Australia), Graduate School of Medicine Osaka University Hospital (Japan), and Bergen University (Norway).

Dr. Janabi is involved in several research projects and is the principal investigator on the Atrial Fibrillation study RELY (Multinational), and the Principal Investigator TB/HIV study (multinational). Dr. Janabi is also the in-country director for Madaktari Africa. Dr. Janabi is also the host of the East African Cardiology Conference and lead on starting the first ACC chapter in Africa.
